LOUISA, KY. — A newly formed task force between the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Louisa Police Department and the Lawrence County Constable Association will focus on drug enforcement and high risk or high priority warrants.

The D.I.C.E. or (Drug Interdiction Co-Op Enforcement) idea was tossed around following a meeting with Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt and Sheriff Chuck Jackson. Constable Daniel Castle, leading the Lawrence County Constables Association also agreeing on the joint effort, the task force was formed.

“With limited manpower working as separate agencies, we felt it was better to dedicate one or two officers from each agency to focus on the drug related issues and then everyone as a team go out and enforce the findings of those investigations, this is a safer and more productive way for the officers and the community.” stated Chief Fugitt.

“I think this is a great opportunity for both the city and county agencies to combine resources to better serve the community. Narcotics are at the core of many complaints that we receive on a daily basis. It is our hope that by this joint effort we can more efficiently target the sale and use of Narcotics,” Sheriff Jackson said.
